NEW PROJECT: Nora's Hammer, Magnhild, from RWBY

NORRRAAAAAAAA!!!! YAAYYYY!!!

I absolutely  love RWBY, and I'm hoping to have this weapon and costume finished for AX 2015, for a group i'm going to be in. Now on to the project!

Like almost all the weapons in RWBY this one transforms, from a gun to hammer. This is an atempt at making a transformable weapon, that looks like it does in the show. WARNING: I am a complete amateur and have no experience in engineering whatsoever, so be warned this may not be the smartest, or most efficient way to make this! I am going to be begging my cousin, who is a mechanical engineer, to help me with some of this project, but this project will be mainly based off my own ideas, so be wary.

Now to the fun stuff!

This fanmade video of the transformation is one of my main references, so watch it now, if you are even concidering ever making this.

(All credit to this amazing animation goes to YI koo, who make this masterpiece)

So, after a ton of research, and stuff, I began calculating costs. To make an automatic weapon that would transform by itself would cost about $500-1500 and a ton of fancy equipment, which is way over my budget as a high school student. So, some cuts had to be made. these  are the two big ones:

1. It would only transform automatically from hammer to gun. This way i could carry it around as a hammer, and then when I wanted to be super cool I could make it into a gun and actually walk through doorways. this makes it way simpler.

2. It would not actually transform automatically. I know, bummer, but that was just way out of my budget. I am looking for a max of $400-500 (i would really love it to be under $300, but that's just a dream...) spent on this entire costume, so automatic parts weren't going to cut it.  ALL IS NOT LOST THOUGH!!!! Even though it will not technically be automatic, it will look automatic. the hammer will be designed with certain releases and choreographed motions, so, i can release releases and swing the hammer around and it will look automatic, when it is really just momentum and gravity.

I am still in the midst of the design phase, so the procces continues! this is just the first update, so I'll post more later, when it's more done, maybe start the actual construction soon.

That's all... for now

The Revival of this blog...

So its has been over a year at least since I actually posted something, but now that I'm starting a huge new project, I'd better get started actually trying to document my progress.

The future of this blog is still shaky, most likely updates will not be often, but I will try not to forget about this blog (as much).

Honestly, I am cringing at my earlier posts and projects.... but I hope picking up this blog again will change get me inspired to at least try to document me progress.

Also, NEW project!! it will be up as soon as i get around to finishing my intro post.

That's all!

New blog!!

I was looking at his sad little blog and I noticed that most of what I have posted so far has been about books, when this is my crafting blog. So that had to be fixed.

I present to you... Books Nooks and Looks!!!!

http://booksnooksandlooks.blogspot.com/

Yes, it is a silly name, but it is my new blog, so from now on that is where all my book stuff will appear.

I know I haven't even really been trying on this blog, but I am working on a sewing project, so that should be up sometime...hopefully soon.

That's all.

Frozen: Anna's green dress tutorial/Overview

Okay, first off, I am not an experienced sewer, I am self taught, and most of this dress was improve. I drew my patterns based of what I thought would work, and I have about zero sewing experience.  My way is probably not the best way, but it turned out really well so I am happy

Anna's Green dress from Frozen

So, I'm going to make Anna's dress. This one.

There haven't been really any cosplays of this yet, and I really love it. There isn't going to be a tutorial for it either (I think), but I will post picks and the separate pieces of it. Also I can answer questions (Even though this blog has like 3 page views). I'm already halfway done, so I hope it'll be up soon. right now, The corset top is done, same with the baby sleeves, and all the fabric is cut, I painted the designs on the skirt, and all it really needs to do now is be put together.

I'll post it on DevantArt too.

That's all.
